The
Pledge of Nonviolence
as a Tool for Social Change - Part 2
As a follow-up
to our last newsletter issue on the Pledge of Nonviolence as a Tool for
Social Change, we invited people to respond to that theme in light of their
own efforts to promote nonviolence in their community. This issue contains
several reflections from international readers. Thanks to all our
contributors. They give us hope and encouragement as we seek to know better
how to create a culture of peace when violence seems so prevalent.
The Pledge of
Nonviolence is a dynamic tool for enabling us to live more peaceably in our
daily lives. When we use the Pledge, however, do we consider only the
personal and interpersonal aspects? Can we use the Pledge as a lens for
exploring the structural and systemic dimensions of our lives?
