The quarterly Newsletter, serving IPJ
Shareholder Members and the PPJN and FAVAN networks, offers families,
schools, faith communities, and local organizations practical ways of
living and sharing the Pledge of Nonviolence and/or responding to some
aspect of violence challenging our communities, nation, and world. Each
issue focuses on a specific component of the Pledge or aspect of violence,
helping all of us find more effective ways of addressing violence, its
roots, and the implications of the Pledge for society as well as for
families.

Winter 2004 Newsletter: The
Legacy of Dr. King – Challenging Materialism
This is the
second of our four part series of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This issue focuses on the “extreme materialism” that King identified as one
of the societal evils that must be overcome if we as a country are to move
from being a thing-oriented culture to a people-oriented one. We have
tried, however, to focus on the positive, with articles, reflection
questions, and suggestions that help empower individuals and families to
become more intentional about their lifestyle.
